It all started back in 1979 under the shade of three majestic pecan trees. With little more than an old truck and some second hand equipment, Harold Fulford began roofing commercial buildings in Carroll County, Georgia.
He launched West Georgia Resources as a one man operation with a 10 foot building height limit. Why the limit? In the early days he had to pitch gravel to the roof from the ground using nothing but a shovel, as well as carrying hot asphalt up a ladder in five gallon buckets. Work was hard, but he was committed to his family and building the business. As West Georgia Resource’s client list grew, his wife Beverly began helping him in the field and in the office. It wasn’t long before the two of them were adding full time employees.
West Georgia Resources moved to its current location in 1986. It has grown into one of the area’s most successful small businesses, providing jobs to a full time staff of 20+ employees and operating a fleet of 14+ vehicles. The company is licensed and bonded to work in Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina. Harold and Beverly have since retired, but the business has stayed in the family. Today, Gene Fulford is at the helm providing the second generation of Fulford leadership as the company continues to expand its markets.
Owner/President
Gene Fulford is owner and president of West Georgia Resources, Inc. He began working his way up through the company in 1999. Gene is a native of Carrollton and graduated from Carrollton High School. He and his wife Justin are active animal rescuers, helping facilitate adoptions of Australian Shepherds. They are currently restoring their early 1900s farmhouse in Carroll County. Gene is an avid woodworker and enjoys spending time on his Massey-Ferguson and working around the family farm.
Founder/Management Consultant
Harold Fulford founded West Georgia Resources in 1979. Since retiring in 2009, he continues to serve the company as a management consultant. He and his wife Beverly are active members of the First Baptist Church of Carrollton. They have two children who are raising families of their own in the area. Harold now spends more time at his Carroll County farm raising cattle, and enjoys gardening, hunting & fishing.
Office Manager
A native to Wisconsin, that now calls Georgia home. She and her husband Brent have a son and two golden retrievers. She enjoys working out and doing projects around the hose.
Repair Manager
Kevin Prater has been in the roofing industry since 1994. He is the Repair Manager for West Georgia Resources, Inc. He attended the University of West Georgia. Kevin and his wife Brandy are active members of Berachah Baptist Church. They live in Waco, Georgia with their three children. Kevin’s passions include coaching recreational league softball and baseball, as well as hunting & fishing.
